Project Description

WE THE LIGHT is a platform that allows communities from different walks of life to give support to the athletes of the 28th SEA Games and aims to limit and reduce the use of permanent lighting fixtures, providing opportunities for people to dictate the outcome of the sculpture. We want to show how these different South East Asia (SEA) countries come together to promote cooperation, understanding and relations among them. The base is made up of 10 colours selected from the flags of the 11 participating countries of the SEA Games, as each country plays an important role. During the day, the focus will be on the collage of the different nations participating in the Games. When the night falls, the community can use the torch function on their mobile phones and/or the torches which are mounted on the globe to shine through the holes to project the various countries unto the inner surface of the globe, lighting up the artwork. Not only will it render the night, they will also render the sculpture in colours. WE THE LIGHT is a result of You Light, I Light, We light!
