Team Challenge Event with Luci
Great lighting design is rarely about the luminaire alone. It is about understanding how light interacts with materials, reveals texture, shapes perception, and ultimately defines the experience of a space.
At the end of June, the Light Collab oversea team came together in Singapore for a few days of collaboration and knowledge sharing. One of the highlights was a hands-on workshop held in partnership with Luci PTE LTD, where we explored the subtle yet powerful relationship between indirect lighting, materiality and surface texture.
Rather than focusing on theory alone, we challenged our designers with real project scenarios, including one of the most common design hurdles: working with reflective materials. Through experimentation, discussion and collaboration, the team tested different lighting strategies, questioned assumptions, and discovered how small adjustments in mounting position, distance and beam direction can dramatically influence the final visual outcome.
The most rewarding part was seeing the diverse perspectives and creative solutions that emerged from the room. It was a great reminder that the best design often comes from curiosity, collaboration and the willingness to keep exploring.
