Existing luminaires had poor optics and made the architecture and spaces rather flat. Internal prayer hall was also very dim and did not really highlight the double volume space of the inner prayer hall. The proposed lighting design concept was carefully executed with selections of good luminaires with efficient LED and optics. It established the temple as a night time landmark in the midst of the urban bustle in Upper Bukit Timah Road. The lighting design concept also enhances the architectural spatial quality of the temple; celebrating and revealing the forms, textures, colours and motifs of the temple. Tiered roof forms are carefully lit up so that the architectural roof form can be seen from street level and from afar.
https://www.lightcollab.com/media/pages/projects/tower-of-light-dhaka/2602991280-1712407838/dhaka-glass-tower-1-420x.jpg
Tower of Light (Shadhinata Tower), a 150 feet high structure made up of stacked glass, is a focal point of the Independence Monument commissioned by the Ministry of War Liberation Affairs, Public Works Department in 1997. The site for the Independence Monument is where Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the father of the nation delivered the historic speech that united the people of Bengal to fight for their liberation from 24 years of oppressive military rule under Pakistan. Light Collab was commissioned to achieve a glowing tower which can be seen from all around the city. The challenge for this installation was to make use of nostalgic or daily objects, to portray the specific individual sceneries through light and shadow.

Though being a simple installation, with the play of light and shadow, it can create different perspectives. These varying visual effects can be achieved with the layering or overlapping of shadows, depth of field when the object is nearer or further from the light. Thus, shadows projected in relation to the light source will reveal unexpected sceneries.

Merlion Cable Car

The use of these old country erasers was to signify Singapore’s connection to many countries today. Using this nostalgic object to create cable cars and the Merlion, was to portray and remember that because of our strategic location and naturally deep harbour, we can have what we have on Sentosa Island today.

Shophouses HDBs

Singapore’s conservational efforts for our old heritage (shophouses) and the new housing (HDBs) today, inspired the use of matchstick boxes and tic tac for this installation. The idea was to create an irony in using these nostalgic matchstick boxes to portray our first world country’s housing skyline and tic tac to create a colourful vibrant city.
https://www.lightcollab.com/media/pages/projects/the-legend-of-red-hill-part-of-iald-sea-in-light-of-shadows/3502058702-1712407910/01-420x.jpg
Taking inspiration from the very basic element of lighting design – shadows, the installation invites the public to experience and participate in the interactive shadow installations, The Legend of Bukit Merah.
